Rabea founded and continues to serve as the CEO of Bayt.com. Bayt.com was launched in June 2000 to address the massive unemployment issue in the Middle East by leveraging the internet to give job seekers free access to employment opportunities in a region that has historically had limitations on the flow of both information and people. Today Bayt.com, the #1 Job Site in the Middle East, serves over 3.75Million registered professionals and over 30,000 employers in the region and helps both parties match opportunity and talent quickly, easily, and cost-effectively. In his role as Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ataya has recruited the executive team, has raised several rounds of venture capital and private funding and has led strategy, direction and implementation. Mr. Ataya is also the recipient of Middle Eastern E-Entrepreneur Award given by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, for his outstanding contributions to the region’s “knowledge economy.”
In 1997, Mr. Ataya founded InfoFort, the first and leading records management company in the Middle East. InfoFort provides data storage facilities services to hundreds of organizations in the Middle East from the UAE to Egypt. Mr. Ataya led InfoFort as Chairman and CEO, deliberating strategy, setting tactics and executing plans.
Prior to founding Bayt and InfoFort, Mr. Ataya was Deputy General Manager of Ranya Contracting Company, a leading contracting company, and was responsible for the $30 million electro-mechanical division focused on HVAC.
From 1994 to 1995, Mr. Ataya worked in the Technology Group of Alex Brown and Sons in San Francisco. In this capacity, he conducted analysis and opinions on mergers and acquisitions and helped raise both debt and equity financing for corporations exceeding $1 billion in aggregate.
Mr. Ataya’s international media and speaking appearances include CNET, Wall Street Journal, Red Herring, YEO University, World Economic Forum in Amman Jordan, Dubai TV, in addition to regional conferences and business media. He has spoken on technology, the internet, entrepreneurship and youth in the region.
Mr. Ataya is also a member of and has held leadership positions in the Young Arab Leaders, Young Entrepreneurs Organization, Arab Business Challenge, and the Stanford Alumni Association.
